Dixie Red Delights Get Attacked by Drunk Fan in Philly !

Well, not really.
While playing a tour date show at the Blinkin Lincoln in Philadelphia, the band ran into what had to be one of their drunkest, or most possessed fans. Here is a clip, do not try this at home.

They are playing tonight at the Garage at Biltmore in Asheville, NC and tomorrow at the Barley Taproom in Asheville, NC, Thursday at World Cafe Live in Philadelphia, PA.

The Dixie Red Delights band from Montpelier, Vermont will be heading out on tour starting June 24th 2009. They will be traveling from Vermont to Asheville North Carolina and enjoying stops at some really nice venues. The band will be documenting their trip with tour video, pictures and on the fly Youtube updates of their adventures.

King Sunny Ade is the undisputed king of juju music, the dance-inspiring hybrid of western pop and traditional African music with roots in the guitar tradition of Nigeria. For the past three decades, Ade and his band, His African Beats, have continued to weave an infectious blend of electric guitars, synthesizers, and multi-layered percussion.

Movement of the People performs the music and songs of the late Nigerian musician, singer, composer and political activist Fela Kuti.As a pioneer of the popular Afrobeat sound, Fela Kuti is considered to be one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century.Borrowing its name from Fela's self-created political party, Movement of the People features a diverse collection of Vermont musicians. Under the direction of tenor saxophonist Zach Tonnissen, This ensemble is a virtual who's who of Vermont music with its members hailing from 15 years of Vermont music history and Vermont bands.Movement of the People has taken Vermont by storm. From the ensemble's very first performance in September of 08 they have consistently sold out each show and the venues have been forced to turn people away at the door. Movement of the People approach each show with a dedication to the spirit of Fela's messages of democracy and freedom and commitment to the power and joy within the music. And the audiences know that and feel that.

HALOGEN & 1LB V.I.P BOUND

The Festivus, dubbed "The Manifestivus" this year to honor its larger scale, is held on 93 acres of breathtaking land in Cabot, six hours north of New York City and three hours from Boston or Montreal. Set on a gently rolling hillside meadow surrounded by forest, the timber stage creates an unforgettable vibe which last year hosted 1500 dancing, smiling, loving faces under a moonlit sky. The Festivus is founded by Toubab Krewe bassist David Pransky, and takes place on his family's longtime farm.

The "forward thinking, groove-heavy" (Jambase) Toubab Krewe of Asheville, NC headline both nights. Friday night will also include a rare U.S. performance by Oumou Sangaré, "the songbird of Mali," with Virgin Islands roots masters Midnite opening the gathering. Jamaican reggae legends Barrington Levy and Earl "Chinna" Smith and NYC's old-school hip-hop duo Black Sheep will also move the crowds Saturday.

Other performers include Lamine Soumano, Strength In Numbers, Movement of the People: Fela Kuti Tribute Ensemble, Boubakar Diabaté, Sara Grace & The Suits and Jeh Kulu. Yoga In The Woods and African drum and dance workshops will also be available. The family-friendly event offers on-site camping, medical facilities and security, a VIP lounge, and vendors of authentic African and Ital food and local arts and crafts.

Hiking trails wind through beaver ponds, marsh and woodland forest, and a large swimming pond. The 200 children attending in 2008 had their own safe play area with body paint and a bouncy house. This year they'll also have a puppet theater and a little people's water slide. An energy-saving sound system and LED lights use only a fraction of the power used at most festivals.
